Coming Home
Coming Home is a Charitable Trust providing a home and a pathway for people in need who are ready to start a new life which is addiction-free and with renewed hope. We support those committed to facing their struggles in life (past trauma, addiction, rough sleeping, mental health issues, and unhealthy ways of living) – the marginalised who are ready to exchange old habits for a life full of joy, love, and peace. Coming Home is providing a residential faith-based facility for holistic healing and new beginnings in a loving family environment. Individuals can begin a journey of deep healing and transformation through healing the heart and renewing the mind. Coming Home helps the whole person (body, soul and spirit) and addresses all areas of life addiction, relationships, finances, work, etc.). Rooted in Christian beliefs, we offer a holistic, person-centred approach that addresses not only each person’s habits, hurts and needs, but also the deeper roots of addiction and brokenness (trauma). Our Vision is healing and wholeness – recovery, restoration, and reintegration.
Our team brings expertise across social work, mental health, addiction recovery, prison work, nursing, mentoring and coaching, psychology, counselling and therapy, education and teaching, pastoral care, chaplaincy, prayer ministry, and more – covering different aspects of the structured programme. We are now looking for a House Parent who will live with the residents, oversee the programme, and cover the nights.
About Sonja Merz
My name is Sonja Merz, and I have a heart for our Lord and the broken-hearted (see Isa.61). After having been involved for many years in services for people in addiction and mental health issues, God had given me a clear vision about this project, to be able to truly help the people change their lives and being transformed. As a trained prayer minister, I could see how God heals and changes hearts and minds when we address issues in His ways. Three years ago, I stepped out in faith and obedience to the call and founded Coming Home, where I serve as chair and director.
Prayer Points
• For a suitable House Parent (or a couple) who lives with the residents
• For a growing team of volunteers who are committed and participate actively (to cover all areas of the programme and to spread the work on many shoulders)
• For provision of all we need to run the full programme (including the community work we want to do with the residents)
