Ōtautahi/Christchurch Prayer Breakfast:

This year we’ve seen the growing impact of united prayer across the churches of Ōtautahi/Christchurch through gatherings like Open Heaven (at the arena), and Pentecost Prayer (24-7 Prayer NZ), as well as a recent service held at the Transitional Cathedral celebrating the 1700th anniversary of the Nicene Creed. So we are encouraging the wider church to again join together to pray for our city and region at the upcoming 2025 Christchurch Prayer Breakfast on Wednesday, 30 July at the Christchurch Town Hall. The prayer breakfast has been initiated by Clint Ussher and other city wide leaders in conjunction with NZ Christian Network, also supported by Te Raranga city wide network of churches in Christchurch.

Theme:
FOR: As followers of Jesus, we are FOR this city, FOR her people of all ages and cultures, FOR her flourishing and welfare. One of the ways we demonstrate this is in our prayers FOR this city.

Scripture: Jeremiah 29:7 (NLT) “And work for the peace and prosperity of the city where I sent you into exile. Pray to the Lord for it, for its welfare will determine your welfare.”

Pastor Donald Scott shared at the prayer meeting. Donald led Northcity church in Christchurch for 20 years until moving recently into a wider ministry to the body of Christ in the city and beyond, with a passion for city wide unity and bi-cultural reconciliation. He facilitates a core team that oversees a city wide church network, Te Raranga.

Te Raranga is a servant network, seeking to weave together what God’s Spirit is doing in and through the Church in our region.

“Woven together, like a kete, we might actually hold something magnificent for God – for the glory of God and for the well-being of our city. That is Te Raranga.”
