World Vision
You might know of World Vision from the famous-in-New Zealand 40 Hour Famine (now the 40 hour challenge!). What you might not know is that World Vision is a child-focused, “Jesus at the Centre” aid and development organisation, with a vision for “life in all its fullness” for our world’s children. Monday 27th, we are joined by Andy Robinson from World Vision who will speak about three places close to his heart: the West Bank; Somalia; and Afghanistan. Andy is a Christ-follower, with 20+ years’ experience
in humanitarian work, who is now based in West Auckland with his wife and young son, and where they belong to a wonderful little house-church community. As a Programme Manager, Andy has the great privilege of putting to best-use the donations given by New Zealanders, to help give “life in all its fullness” to children living in some of the world’s most difficult places.
Prayer Points:
1. For the West Bank: We give thanks for the ceasefire in Gaza and our plea now is that aid will flow in, abundantly and without impedance, to feed the hungry, satisfy the thirsty, and heal the sick, the hurting, and the injured. We pray now for peace to come to the West Bank, especially now during the olive harvest season.
2. For Somalia: We give thanks for the compassion of our Government and their generous financial support to help relieve hunger amongst children and mothers in Puntland, Somalia who are on the brink of famine. We pray that food aid reaches the most vulnerable – those in greatest need – and that this lifesaving support can be sustained through the hard months to come, as drought extends across Somalia.
3. For Afghanistan: We give thanks for the incredible and totally unexpected blessing of funding which World Vision received last month, that will keep six health clinics running in Western Afghanistan for the next year! We pray for mercy over this land and its people that are heavily afflicted by natural disaster and hard-hearted leaders.
4. For our World’s Leaders: We pray for the choices our world leaders are making between aid budgets and defense budgets. For the choices they make between profit and climate. For the choices they make that can bring us together, or tear us apart.
