Karuwhā Trust seek to engage Aotearoa New Zealand in a conversation about identity and history in order to help people know the story they are a part of. We do this by connecting communities through haerenga, story and service.

We research important and less-well-known stories about our shared past; this research is available on our website at: https://www.karuwha.org.nz/ under “Te Kōrero” tab.

We run workshops on the New Zealand story, and are available to speak by invitation at conferences, hui, schools or churches.

We facilitate haerenga (journeys) to significant sites across Aotearoa New Zealand in relationship with tāngata whenua and assisted by qualified historical narrators. These places include Waitangi (over Waitangi Day commemorations and He Whakaputanga), East Coast, Tauranga Moana, Ōhope, Taranaki, Waikato/New Zealand War sites and more. The selected locations are places in which the Trust has pre-existing relationships with tāngata whenua and historical knowledge.
