Dr Murray Sheard shares about the work of CBM (Christian Blind Mission) in support of people with disabilities in low-income countries, where they are often one of the most left behind groups. CBM works in partnership with local organisations to implement development and humanitarian programmes, including rehabilitation services, livelihood development, inclusive education, and disability-inclusive disaster risk reduction alongside medical services in eye and ear care, gynaecology and orthopaedics. Murray will also challenge us to consider how our own churches and communities can be more inclusive of people with disabilities.

Prayer Points:

  • For the CBM workers on the frontline in countries such as Nigeria, Zimbabwe, Madagascar, Bangladesh, Laos and in the Pacific Islands.
  • For CBM staff traveling in Papua New Guinea where we have been setting up a new in-country office.
  • Give thanks for our generous supporters in New Zealand, and our amazing staff team.
  • For CBM’s Global Gathering in Indonesia in the first week of October. This will be a time for cementing a new strategy and increasing the ways the teams work together across 20 countries.
  • For more New Zealanders to be stirred to advocate for the rights of people with disabilities, who were so valued by Jesus during His ministry on earth.
