Regional Focus: Kaimai

Kaimai Presbytery serves 43 congregations across a diverse region of the upper central North Island, from the Coromandel and Waikato through to Tūrangi and Taumarunui, and east to Ōpōtiki. Our vision is for churches to be healthy and growing, rooted in spiritual vitality, empowered by the Holy Spirit and fruitful in God’s mission — richly varied yet interdependent, like the Kaimai bush itself.

Our current focus includes developing leaders, strengthening pathways of discipleship, and engaging more intentionally with children and young people and intergenerational ministry.

This evening Rev Ian Guy, recently inducted Moderator of Kaimai Presbytery and minister of the Knox Cluster in the Eastern Bay of Plenty, will share more of the regional focus of the Kaimai Presbyterians.

Prayer Points

1. Spiritual vitality and Christlike character
Pray that churches across Kaimai will be deeply rooted in Christ and increasingly alive to the presence and leading of the Holy Spirit. Pray especially that our church members will grow in the character and heart of Jesus — becoming people marked by love, compassion, humility, generosity, forgiveness and a willingness to serve others. May spiritual vitality be seen not simply in what our churches do, but in the people we are becoming.

2. Leaders
Pray for ministers, elders and other leaders across the Presbytery. Ask God to raise up new leaders, strengthen those already serving, and give them wisdom, courage, humility and joy for the calling God has given them.

3. Discipleship
Pray that our churches will help people move beyond simply attending church to becoming mature and active followers of Jesus — growing in faith, prayer, service and witness, and increasingly being shaped by the life and character of Christ.

4. Children and young people
Pray for a renewed commitment to intergenerational ministry. Pray that children and young people will know that they belong in the Church, encounter Jesus, discover their gifts and be encouraged as disciples and leaders themselves.

5. Mission in our communities
Pray that Kaimai congregations will look outward with compassion and confidence, recognising where God is already at work in their communities and finding creative ways to join in God’s mission through word and deed. Pray that our churches will be places where people encounter the hope, healing and welcome of Jesus Christ.

6. Unity and partnership
Pray that the churches of Kaimai will increasingly work together — and seek partnership with all Christian churches in our communities. Pray that we will encourage and strengthen one another, set aside unnecessary barriers, and find opportunities to witness to Jesus Christ with one voice wherever we can. May our unity and love for one another itself become a witness to the Gospel.
