Mark Maney, staff researcher/writer for NZ Christian Network, presented some concerns people should have over the government’s proposed hate speech legislation that is currently under discussion and made three prayer requests regarding this discussion process:

  1. That the New Zealand public will become aware of the significant dangers to freedom of belief and freedom of expression posed by what is being proposed, and express their concerns on their response to the discussion document
  2. That the Christian community become well-informed on this matter, and how it could seriously affect Christian people and churches, and then make clear, constructive, and persuasive feedback to the government
  3. That the Government listens to the concerns, and then shapes the legislation in a way that genuinely protects freedoms of religious belief and expression.
